The Tooling Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing molds and tooling used in the diecasting process. This role focuses on ensuring that all tooling is in optimal condition to support efficient production and high-quality output. The Tooling Technician will work closely with the maintenance and production teams to address tooling issues and implement improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tooling Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repairs on molds and tooling to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Mold Preparation: Prepare and set up molds for production runs, ensuring they meet all specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with molds and tooling, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
  • Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of molds and tooling to identify wear and tear, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Document any changes or modifications to tooling.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance and production teams to ensure seamless operations and minimal downtime.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving tooling performance and longevity. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure a safe working environment by following safety regulations and conducting safety audits.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of spare parts and tooling supplies. Order parts as necessary to ensure availability.
  • Training: Provide training and support to junior technicians and production staff on proper tooling maintenance and handling procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Tooling Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a tooling maintenance role within the diecasting or automotive parts industry.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of diecasting molds, tooling maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
